Guiding Bhikkhu

Ven. Bhikkhu. Bodhi Dhamma is a Buddhist monk under whose guidance the activities of the monastery will run. Bhikkhu. Bodhi Dhamma was born and brought up in a village near Neyveli, Tamil Nadu. Bhante did his schooling from the same village and Engineering & M Tech from Chennai. He worked as Assistant Professor in various engineering colleges. Alongside, to quench his spiritual thirst, he devoted around 8 years practising various kinds of Yoga and meditation under many Hindu gurus (teachers). Bhante also did MA in yoga under Vethathiri maharishi.

After learning about Vipassana Meditation as taught by S N Goenkaji, dedicatedly started practicing and immersed himself completely in Buddhist meditation by attending many lengthy retreats and did service for 7 years.

As his faith and curiosity in Teachings of the Buddha increased, his search for monastic life began in India and continued to Burma, Thailand and Sri Lanka, where he stayed
and practised in various monasteries. Finally, his 3 years long search came to an end in 2019 when he came across a groupof monks in Na Uyana monastery, Sri Lanka. There he was ordained as a novice initially and eventually as a Bhikkhu (Monk). Bhante learnt, practised and did research on Buddha’s teachings with monks highly evolved in meditation. He is polyglot, he knows English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sinhala and Pali.

That is the journey of Ven. Bhikkhu. Bodhi Dhamma.
Mission & Vision of EBT
Our aim is to re-establish pure Dhamma and Vinaya in India as originally taught by the Buddha. Here, we follow Vinaya from Theravada tradition as practised by forest monks of Na Uyana monastery, Sri Lanka.

Dhamma that we are trying to establish is the result of many great well practicing Teachers, Theras & Mahatheras who, decoded the Suttas in a practical and in its pristine form as taught by the Buddha.

Pure teaching is rare and hidden somewhere in the forest monasteries deep in the forests beyond the reach of lay practitioners. Based on the advice and

directions of highly evolved forest monks, we would want to help identify wrong teachings and wrong meditation techniques prevalent in today’s world as taught by many modern gurus and also from the past. In turn enabling to reestablishing pure teachings of the Buddha for the benefit of one and all.

We conduct retreats to impart knowledge on both Theory and Practice as taught by the Buddha, with proper references and evidence from the Suttas.
Ordination as a Monk

Any lay person, who truly understands and wishes to overcome the suffering (dukkha) and has complete faith in Buddha’s teachings, can get ordained as a monk. He should be ready to renounce everything, ready to face anything and everything on the way. He should be ready to follow 227 precepts (Sila).

In this journey, one who decides to get ordained as a monk will get right guidance from the learned and well established Theras and Mahatheras. Based on individual’s ability and effort one can strive to reach the ultimate goal of Nibbana gradually.

The sole purpose for establishing EBT Monastery is to help anyone with pure intention to get ordained as a Bhikkhu (Monk) to be.
